It’s Not My Birthday
It’s my birthday portrait !
It took me a couple of weeks to settle on an official birthday portrait. My birthday is in June and I finally got around to posting this photo in August. What I didn’t expect was more “Happy Birthdays”. Ninety nine more to be exact. On top of that, 232 likes! That’s like a grand slam – at least in my (social marketing) league. Almost viral. Funny thing.
A lot of businesses and people make a living marketing on Facebook. I’ve never quite figured out how to do it. (I haven’t been willing to spend the money or the time.) For me, Facebook is a necessary evil in today’s marketing environment. Especially for a photographer. A decent social media presence ups your ranking in search engine results. And so on.
Anyway, for the foreseeable future, I’ve decided to issue the above disclaimer along with any posts that include my image or likeness – It’s Not My Birthday – just for the hell of it.
A Couple Snapshots
Last week, I photographed the Cottleville Weldon Spring Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon. There is one little pool of light at Waters Edge Banquet Center that is perfect for impromptu portraiture, so I grabbed a four of my lady friends (and fellow business owners) and got a couple of snapshots.
Featured here are Stacee Gilmore Fernandez owner Promotions Pronto, Anna Alt with LSL Finishes, Amy Gill Your Pharmacist that Cares, and Sarah Morard owner Brand Buzz Media.
I know you are thinking I have a rough job ….
Good Time of the Year for Family Portraits
Speaking of portraiture, now is an excellent time of the year for family photographs. Life is delicate (we’re not going to live forever), so why not have professional photos made once a year or so? I’m not talking about your cell phone photos that will die when your battery does, or when you do. I’m talking about making and printing something that will be around for a couple of generations?
Here’s some information to get a family portrait session started.
Looking Ahead
Patty and I have been working on a photo studio for the Witches of Cottleville event coming up October 5. Maybe I’ll see you there.
To reserve one of our limited portrait sessions make sure you have your ticket to the event first, then here is a link to the Modern Witch Portrait Shoppe.
And I’ll leave you with this teaser of my favorite Modern Witch. See you there!
Thanks for dropping by!
Best,
Mike
