One Moment in History

The Photographer’s Soul

I am an historian. Photographs are historical documents. A person, place or thing at a given point in time narrowed down to 1/125th of a second…maybe even less. When an image is printed, it leaves a physical record of that moment. That’s the value of what I do, work that matters for people who care.

One Moment in History

I just happened to have my camera that night. We were having dinner at the Underground (The Main House, St. Charles MO) and the entertainment included 3 well known local musicians each telling a story then playing a song they had written – occasionally spurring spontaneous jamming.

It was an intimate evening with a respectful audience, delicious food, as the music ministered to our souls. ‘…a delightful human experience.

The photo came at the end of the evening. Good energy still lingered in the air despite the restaurant crew bussing tables and cleaning up. Having finished their work, the musicians kicked back on an old sofa to debrief. I was invited to shoot a couple photos and captured this one moment in history.

This photo is printed and now hanging in my office. Whenever my wife and I look at it, we are reminded of that sweet evening we shared that one evening in May. That’s the value of what I do.

Thank you for spending this moment in history with me,

Mike
