The Impatiens Were Drunk With Rain…
It sounds poetic doesn’t it? It’s the best a cowboy philosopher could come up with at the moment, without sounding whiny about more gloomy weather. The impatiens were drunk with rain. You can see they are waterlogged and drooping.
It’s global warming at it’s finest. What happened to the good old days like a millennia ago, when according to legend the entire planet had the climate like San Diego enjoys today? I blame the _______ (fill in the blank).
I was trying to create something poetic sounding for the Missouri River at Saint Charles, but the “river was drunk with rain” doesn’t sound right. At the moment, it is pushing the limits of it banks here and gone over in other places to be sure.
On the plus side, I’ve heard this weather has been superb for growing morel mushrooms. Where to find them tho’ is the best guarded god damm secret in Missouri.
And on the plus side, the blooming Dogwood …
and Redbud trees have been exquisite.
Dang if I didn’t get sucked into talking about the weather again. They say you can learn a lot about a person by opening a conversation about the weather; if they are generally positive or negative people, republican or democrat, fun to be with or most likely a drag.
This cowboy philosopher generally adopts the view of the cowboy singer…
Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey
Luke Bryan
Whiskey makes my baby, feel a little frisky
Back roads are boggin’ up, my buddies pile up in my truck
We hunt our hunnies down, we take ’em into town
Start washin’ all our worries down the drain
Rain is a good thing
