Portraiture and People
My portrait work brings me into close proximity with my clients because any portrait is a collaborative effort between the subject and myself. Collaboration creates an opportunity to get to know my clients on a deeper level, and is one of the reasons I enjoy my work.
Client Profile
Previously, I described Dr. Joe Cangas as Army veteran and family man. But there is a lot more than that. He is an entrepreneur. Dr. Joe owns two traditional pediatric practices, has his own line of high quality CBD products branded as Ledexar, is the founder of a non-profit called Helmets First (bicycle helmets for kids), and right now is in the process of launching Allies 4 Health, a concierge pediatric practice. And I haven’t listed everything…
In conversation with Dr. Joe, he’s told me running an insurance based practice limits the time he has to spend with each patient. And he like’s to know his patients. It’s a numbers game and the insurance companies are in charge of the numbers. To pay the overhead, the employees, and himself he needs to see X number of patients to make everything work. Office hours divided by X equals the number of minutes he can allot to a patient and it’s not as many as he would like to provide his preferred level of care.
In the new concierge model of providing pediatric health care, Dr. Joe controls the numbers (not the insurance companies). He has the option to limit the number of his patients so he can offer better personal service including house calls.
I think it’s important to mention that Dr. Joe respects the choices of the parents. He feels it’s is job to inform as a physician and support the family’s wish regarding the care of their children (as long as it is moral and ethical). In other words he doesn’t come across as speaking “ex cathedra” (from the throne – as in God’s throne).
I went to a doctor like…once.
Dr. Joe is a down to earth approachable gentleman. He will use is education, resources and experience to offer the children and families under his care the best medical service.
I asked Dr. Joe for a favorite quote and here is what he said. “Pray as if everything depends on God. Work as though everything depends on me.”
My Thoughts, Exactly
If you are thinking the world needs more people like Dr. Joe, those are my thoughts exactly.
My “SEO” software (an app that “helps” me make a better blog) says I need to dumb down my writing so a 3rd grader and google can read my stuff. And those are my thoughts exactly.
Wrapping It Up
I am very grateful that you dropped in today and would be interested in your thoughts left in the comment box below and feel free to write at any grade level you want. If you do, be sure to include your website so my subscribers might discover what you are all about.
Like you, Patty and I have seen some difficulties in 2021 (and I still have a hangover from 2020). But rather than dwell on that, I’m choosing to look at the bright side. I can honestly say I feel pretty good about last year. I seem to have hit a higher stride of proficiency and excellence with my photography and business. I am excited for the opportunity I have to serve my clients in 2022.
Speaking for Patty and myself, may your holidays be richly enjoyed and the new year bring you prosperity and good health.
Your friend,
Mike
